Child trafficking is a $30 billion a year business and growing rapidly. For over a decade, Phantom Rescue has been involved in direct operations that Locate, Rescue & Return children from the grips of this complex criminal industry. Having seen these horrific situations first hand, we believe that rescues alone will not be the solution to ending child trafficking. No matter how many children we save, there will be countless others. Only through a combination of education, outreach and public participation will truly begin to make a difference.
Bottomline, we live in a digital world and our children have more access than ever before. With countless numbers of social platforms and media outlets, it has become almost impossible to regulate what our children are exposed to online. Criminals know this, and they exploit it. In fact, social media has become the number one tool used by traffickers to lure potential victims. So how do we give Young children the skills and awareness they need to be safe online without, well… freaking them out?
This is when we realized that we would need we a champion to help us effectively communicate that message. And most importantly, to do it in an entertaining way that would engage our young audience and not lecture and bore them.
This is the moment the Captain Rescue concept was born.
